When IDL (International Dance League) was first introduced, it marked a major shift in how dance could exist on a global stage. Structured, competitive, and built around teams and dancers.
Now, IDL has released its 2026 Season schedule, giving the dance community a clearer look at where and how the league will come to life in its inaugural season.
A Global Season, City by City
The 2026 IDL season will officially kick off May 2, 2026 in New York City, followed by a series of international events before culminating in a Championship Weekend in Los Angeles. Each stop on the tour will host official league matchups between IDL’s professional teams, all competing under the same standardized format.
2026 IDL Season Stops:
- New York City — Season Opener (May 2, 2026)
- Vancouver
- Sydney
- Seoul
- Los Angeles — Championship Weekend (Matchups + Finals)
Venue details, matchups, and ticketing information will be announced at a later date.
What This Means for Dancers
For dancers, the schedule release is less about geography and more about structure.
A defined season calendar allows teams, athletes, and fans to follow the league as it unfolds, tracking performances, rivalries, and progression from city to city. It also reinforces IDL’s core idea: dance isn’t just an event-by-event experience, but something that can be followed, debated, and celebrated over time.
This approach reflects a larger shift in how IDL is positioning dance as a professional sport to the world with narrative, stakes, and continuity.
