Hurrikane has performed with Madonna and Janet Jackson, competed on So You Think You Can Dance, and won several battles including Juste Debout, Hip Hop International, and Summer Dance Forever. Born in Port-au-Prince, Haiti where he was surrounded by drum beats and instruments, Hurrikane started Locking in 2007 by learning solely through watching The Lockers on Soul Train. When he moved to New York, Hurrikane started going to battles, but still didn’t learn from anyone aside from the original Lockers in order to properly pay homage to the style and culture. Locking gave Hurrikane “the courage to be myself,” and he hopes his students can find their own honesty and freedom through the movement. He advises them to be consistent in their dance journeys, because “doing a little bit is better than doing nothing at all."
